Summer Enrichment Programs

If you are a college bound student, it is often beneficial to participate in summer enrichment programs.

As you explore the different options for college, participating in a summer enrichment program can often be beneficial. These programs will vary in length and cost, and many will have admission criteria that must be met. As we receive information on these programs we will list them here. InnerSpark

The California State Summer School for the Arts (INNERSPARK) is seeking the most talented high school-aged visual, literary, media and performing artists in California. Students selected through the competitive application process will attend one of the country's premier summer arts institutes on the campus of the California Institute of the Arts, in Valencia from July 10th - August 6th, 2010. Instruction is offerred in the fields of Animation, Music, Dance, Film and Video, Theatre, Creative Writing and the Visual Arts. The 520 students accepted will have a unique opportunity to spend four weeks studying and working with professional artists, writers and performers of national stature. Students who successfully complete the program will receive three units of California State University extended education credit. The comprehensive fee of $1,485 will cover room, board and tuition for the four-week session. Applications must be postmarked by February 27, 2010. Pre-College Programs

California College of the Arts is offering their 24th annual Pre-College Program from June 28th - July 23rd, 2010. Approximately 250 students from around the country attend Pre-College each year. Students have the opportunity to study art or creative writing in an intensive art school setting while earning 3 college credits. Students may choose from: Creative Writing, Architecture, Animation, Digital Camera, Drawing-Painting, Drawing-Paintmaking, Fashion Design, Graphic Design, Illustration-Printmaking, Industrial Design, Jewelry/Metal Arts, Photography: Black & White, Photography: Color, Photography: Digital, Sculpture-Drawing & Painting, and Textiles. Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy

The Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy (MMLA) offers a summer language immersion program for pre-college students. The four-week residential camp will begin in July and offer Arabic, Chinese, French, German and Spanish at Green Mountain College in Vermont and at Oberlin College in Ohio. OxBridge Academic Programs

The OxBridge Academic Programs are aimed at advanced students who have the desire and motivation to enrich themselves intellectually while immersing themselves in a foreign culture. There are over 100 different courses in subjects from Archeology to Zoology. The programs in France and Spain offer all levels of language courses as well. 35th Annual Summer Leaders Seminar
United States Military Academy - West Point

West Point has been identified as the "Best College in the Country" by Forbes magazine. The United States Military Academy will host two sessions of the 35th Annual Summer Leaders Seminar in 2010. The first session is scheduled for May 29th through June 4th, the second session will be June 5th through June 11th. The Summer Leaders Seminar provides outstanding high school juniors the exciting opportunity to gain a better understanding of the academic, physical, military, and leadership development programs at a service academy featuring small classes, a caring faculty, professional career preparation, and a foundation for future graduate study. We are looking for juniors who are in the top fifth of their class; pursuing a college-preparatory curriculum; strong PSAT scores; and demonstrated leadership potential.
